Coconut Hamster House
To make a coconut house for your hamster yourself, drain the coconut liquid by making small holes in it. Then place the coconut on the table and mark the place where the entrance to the coconut for the hamster will be. Drill a hole with a diameter of 5 cm in the place where the entrance to the house should be. Take out the flesh of a coconut and eat it. Wash the coconut from the inside and, if necessary, sand the edges of the hole with sandpaper.
Please note that you may have difficulty removing coconut pulp. To facilitate this process, after the hole is made, put the coconut overnight in the freezer. The next day you will find the pulp separated from the shell and you can remove it with a chisel (chisel). To perform this procedure, you may need outside help (an adult, preferably a man).
Wooden house for a hamster
We make a wooden house for a hamster with our own hands. Take a piece of multilayer plywood or a wooden board 1-4 cm thick. Saw and sand with sandpaper two wooden blanks 12.5 cm long and two more blanks 14.5 cm long. You can choose the height of the blanks yourself, if only your hamster is not cramped. In one of the 12.5 cm parts, drill a hole with a diameter of 6 cm.
Then drill one or two windows into 14.5 cm of the part, using a drill with a diameter of 2.5 cm in order to ensure good ventilation. After that, sand all holes with sandpaper and knock down all parts together with nails. Be sure to ensure that the tips of the nails do not peep out of the tree, as they can injure your hamster.
Hamster house made of cardboard tubes
The house for your hamster can be made using cardboard tubes from under the rolls of toilet paper or paper towels. For this you need two cardboard tubes and scissors.
How to make a house:
- Take one tube and gently flatten it as shown in the photo.
- Cut a semicircle on both sides in the middle of the tube.
- Straighten the folded tube.
- Do the same with the second handset.
- Insert the processed workpieces one into the other into the resulting holes.
As a result, we get an easy-to-do-it-yourself maze house for our hamster.
Staircase ramp to the hamster house
Make a rectangular blank of the required size from a wooden board or plywood, sand any rough areas with sandpaper and remove any splinter. Cut across the resulting plank several grooves – 2 mm deep, through each centimeter, which will serve the hamster as a good hold. Place the board at an angle and watch your pet climb the ramp (ramp).
Pipes in a hamster house
Rolls of toilet paper or paper towels can be used as pipes for hamsters.
These rolls are great fun for hamsters, as most of them enjoy exploring these pipes. Using several rolls of toilet paper or paper towels in a hamster cage will provide him with an interesting refuge.
Rolls can be either full or empty (only tube from roll). Toilet paper or paper towels can also be chewing fun for your rodent. Some hamsters like to play in tubes from under the rolls, while other hamsters like to tear toilet paper or paper towel into small pieces and make a nest out of them!
Labyrinth for a hamster
Labyrinths are another favorite activity for a hamster. To create them, you can use rolls of wrapping paper, shoe boxes, plastic cans, cereal boxes, short pieces of PVC tube, cylindrical cereal containers, etc. How to make a labyrinth for the hamster with your own hands from plastic bottles can be found on the link.
Labyrinth is a fun project for all owners of hamsters, it will also be a good puzzle for your pet and let him have fun himself! Place the maze in the playing area and watch your hamster go!
Toilet in the hamster house
First, find a small and sturdy plastic container with a lid. Then cut a hole with a diameter of 5-7.5 cm from the side of the container. Position this hole about 2.5 cm above the base (1.3 cm for dwarf hamsters) so that no debris is scattered when the hamster does its job! Finally, use sandpaper to smooth the edges of the hole in order to secure entry and exit. If the plastic absorbs the smell of urine or the hamster shows any interest in gnawing it, then the homemade pot will have to be replaced from time to time.
You can also use a non-crackable glass pot instead of a plastic one. The great thing about a glass pot is that you only need a half-liter jar with a wide neck or 250 ml jar of dwarf hamsters jam – put it in the corner of the cage, there is an ideal place for it! Thus, you can very quickly organize a toilet for a hamster, which is easy to clean and cannot be nibbled. It will serve your pet for a long time in fulfilling its natural needs. Just make sure that the jar for the toilet is big enough so that your hamster can turn around in it.
